Julia & Kevin

8.25.18

Julia & Kevin were married at Claxton Farm, just outside of Asheville, North Carolina. Ultimately, the most important thing was that the wedding felt authentic to them as a couple, and that it honored their family & friends (even though Kevin liked to joke that his priorities were the bride, the band, and the booze). Because Kevin is from Kansas City and Julia from North Carolina, the dinner had a ‘dueling barbecue’ theme, where guests could choose between Carolina Pulled Pork and KC Ribs. Dessert arrived in the form of a food truck, which served beignets - made to order. A live band, full moon, and campfire pit with s’mores kept their guests partying long into the night.

in her own words…

“Kevin & I met in Chicago, and we still can’t decide who hit on who first. I suspect we’ll be arguing about that one for the next fifty years or so! Either way, we hit it off pretty instantly, after he charmed me with his hidden talent for making up limericks on the spot.

Three years later, Kevin took me home to Asheville for my 30th birthday. He woke me up early to hike Black Balsam Mountain. When we reached the top, Kevin proposed with a limerick, as an ode to the way we met. I barely let him get the question out before I began crying & saying yes. It’s a miracle I made it back down the mountain in one piece, I was just so excited!”

THE GEMMA GOWN | Gemma was the second gown Julia tried on, and her sister knew it was the one - even before she did!

“I fell in love with this dress because it not only made me feel like me, but it made me feel like the best version of myself.”
